What's To Like About ESET NOD32
Although ESET NOD32 is not exactly a very popular antivirus system, it has all the reasons to be. I'm saying this because I've been using it on my PC for quite a few years and has never let me down. So, here are a few points in favor of this nice antivirus.
1. It's a very easy to use anti-malware program. It has a very comprehensive and simple interface, the default setup being for beginners. And even if you switch to the advanced mode, which adds quite a lot of flexibility, it's still very straightforward.
2. You install it and you forget about it. It does its job quietly, without asking for a lot intervention. Files and programs are scanned in real time, when they are opened or run. Of course, this would make you think the running of certain programs will be slowed down. It never happened to me. The scanning is done almost in an instant, in the background.
3. Updated don't take too long, and matter of seconds. During this time, your machine, especially if it's an old one, running an older Windows version, may be slowed down. But as I said, it doesn't take long.
4. It recognizes and quarantines viruses that aren't in its database. It can also create a bootable USB drive or disc for emergencies.
5. Lastly, when it comes to malware protection it does a great job, catching almost any virus, trojan, worm, keylogger or any other malware out there. Plus, there's an email protection function that allows a quick and easy email scan.
Now, I'm not saying that you should use Nod32, there are several other great antivirus programs out there, but this is also a good one. And for my Mac, I've been using Sophos and then MacKeeper, they're also not bad. Although they haven't caught anything that could damage my Mac, they did isolate some trojans that I could have gotten into my Windows PC, from the laptop.
